Dongdosa: An Old Temple Reborn After Nearly Being Submerged

There's a temple in Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin that has quietly kept its place. It's called Dongdosa, and it's said to belong to the Korean Popular Buddhism Buri Order. You can find it along Eojin-ro, and while it's not a widely known major tourist site, it holds its own story, so I wanted to introduce it at least once.
The Old Temple That Nearly Sank Under a Reservoir
There's a story behind how Dongdosa came to stand where it is today. In 1963, when Idong Reservoir was built, the original old temple that had stood there was at risk of being submerged. At that time, the stone structures from that temple were moved, and Dongdosa was newly built with them. So among the stonework you can see on the grounds of Dongdosa today, some of it survived by being relocated after narrowly escaping submersion.
